THIS IS A GENERAL LIST OF COMMON GARDEN HELPERS FOR PEST ERADICATION.
NOTE: (THIS IS AN INFORMATIVE GUIDE AND NOT A RECOMMENDATION GUIDE FROM JACKSON GARDEN LANDSCAPE SUPPLIES).
WHILE LADYBIRDS ARE ASSOCIATED WITH APHIDS AND THOUGHT OF AS A PEST, INFACT THEY ARE THERE EATING THE APHIDS.
DRAGONFLIES, ARE GREAT BUG HUNTERS AND A BENEFIT TO ANY GARDEN.. TO ATTRACT THEM PLACE A POND,WATER TROUGH IN YOUR GARDEN.
PRAYING MANTIS, WHILE LOOKING INTIMIDATING ARE HARMLESS AND VERY GOOD PREDATORS OF GARDEN PESTS.
BEES, WHILE MOST STING EXCEPT FOR THE NATIVE BEE (SMALL BLACK ONES WITH NO STINGER) AS WE ALL KNOW ARE GREAT FOR POLLINATING.
WASPS, SAME AS THE BEE'S BUT AS LONG AS YOU LEAVE THEM ALONE THEY WILL CONTINUE PLUCKING CATERPILLARS OFF YOUR VEGGIES TO PLACE IN THEIR MUD NESTS FOR THEIR LARVAE.
SPIDERS, WELL WHAT CAN I SAY, ALOT OF PEOPLE AFRAID AND IN AUSTRALIA GOOD REASON, BUT THEY ARE STILL A GREAT PREDATOR, ESPECIALLY THE JUMPERS (NO WEB) .
LIZARDS, ALL SKINKS AND GECKO'S (YES EVEN THE ONES IN YOUR DECK ROOFING) ARE GREAT PREDATORS OF PEST INSECTS, WHILE WATER DRAGONS & BEARDED DRAGONS DO LIKE A BITE OR TWO OF RIPE FRUIT, LETTUCE & PARSLEY ETC , THIS CAN BE OFF SET BY A VORACIOUS APPETITE FOR INSECTS.
FROGS, THE BEST FRIEND A GARDENER COULD HAVE, MOSTLY NIGHT HUNTERS SO YOU NEVER KNOW THEY ARE THERE, THE BROWN TYPES (STRIPPIES ETC) OFTEN CONFUSED WITH THE CANE TOAD AN KILLED, BEING AN AMPHIBIAN THEY ARE PRONE TO SOAKING UP ANY CHEMICAL SPRAY THRU THEIR SKIN MUCH TO THEIR DETRIMENT.
LARVAE, WHILE MOST BEETLE & FLY LARVAE ARE A PEST THERE ARE SOME THAT HELP CLEAN UP PESTS IN THE GARDEN, ESPECIALLY APHIDS. THE PICS ABOVE ARE TO HELP IDENTIFY THEM BEFORE YOU NUKE THEM WITH PESTICIDES..
CENTIPEDES & SCORPIONS, WHILE THESE CAN DELIVER A PAINFUL BITE OR STING IF DISTURBED THEY ARE VORACIOUS PREDATORS OF GARDEN PESTS.
